Nicole Ari Parker (born Nicole Ari Parker) is an American actress that works in television, film as well as theatre. The most famous of her roles is Teri Joe the fiery lawyer on her role on the Showtime show Soul Food. After her marriage she became Nikki Kodjoe. As a child in Baltimore, Maryland, she was always fascinated by acting. In a Maryland high school contest during her first years of training, she was awarded the title for the best actress. She received her degree in acting at New York University after working in the Washington Ballet Company' and on stage. She received a lot of praise for her first major part on The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love. There followed films like "Boogie Nights Spark and Blue Streak. Soul Food received a lot of reviews for her work. In addition, she was a part of TV programs like Second Time Around' and Empire. She was also on stage in several productions early in her career. Parker was a politician and also takes an active role in the world of fashion and acting, is currently married to Boris Kodjoe. Both have two kids.
Born from Mumbai, India and raised in Nigeria until 7 years old, Contractor was a seasoned traveler who enjoyed world travels and a variety of civilizations at an extremely young age. When she was seven to nine, the young lady went to boarding school in London. The family later relocated to Toronto which she stayed in throughout her early years. Contractor studied classical ballet in Toronto. She was also a star academically. She was enrolled in the Etobicoke School of the Arts. This is a specialized high school that teaches arts which allowed her to not just study theater but danced as well. Contractor was inspired to pursue acting seriously at age of 16 following almost 10 years dancing. She was awarded a full scholarship to pursue a degree at the University of Toronto after graduating. There she earned her master's degree in theater and also double-majored in social and psychology. Contractor was offered the leading role in Pericles after a one-year stint at University. She auditioned for the role during the Stratford Shakespeare Festival (Ontario Canada) and won. After the show ran for 92 times, she was rewarded with positive reviews. This play was named the top production in Canada by reviewers. Contractor was given the chance to take part in the conservatory, where the top eight men and four women are accepted for a course lasting 20 weeks on the classical stage that she was eager to take. Contractor got a place in the following season of plays and landed the role as Hermia as Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
